Obituary of Alice R. Peterson

Alice R. Peterson, 89, of 349 Howard Ave WE, formerly of 201 E. Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, was Promoted to Glory, Tuesday June 5, 2012. She was born October 23, 1922 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Thure and Violet Sandquist Johnson. Alice was a graduate of the former Lakewood High School. Prior to retirement, she worked in the office at The Salvation Army, and earlier worked at the former Jenkins Dairy. She was an active member of The Salvation Army where she was involved in many groups, including the band, string band, songsters, home league, senior citizens, and teaching ceramics. Alice was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are two sons, Michael H. (Teresa) Peterson of Aurora, CO; Jeffrey A. (Maggie) Peterson of Fredonia; a daughter, Lisa K. (Tim) Eckstrom of West Ellicott; two grandchildren, Rob Eckstrom of Fredericksburg, VA; Karen Eckstrom of Rochester, NY; two step grandchildren, Amanda McDonald of Galt, CA; Maxine Potter of Aurora, CO; a step great grandson, Ian James McDonald of Galt, CA; a sister, Betty Soderstrom of West Ellicott; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Howard Peterson whom she married November 3, 1945 and who died May 27, 1968; and two sisters, Eleanor J. Bush and Lillian Allenson. The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at The Salvation Army. Major Richard Best, retired officer, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
