Obituary of Irene Hoffman
Irene Agnes Hoffman, 91, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday June 19, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 22, 1920 in Buffalo the daughter of John and Anna Jezioro.
Irene was a graduate of Angola High School class of 1940. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lakewood for over 61 years, and member of the Altar and Rosary Society, making her the oldest active member. She was an avid Bridge player and bowler, past member of the Women's Club of Lakewood, and golfed with the Hit and Giggle Gang. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was the ultimate household engineer.
Surviving are four daughters, Cheryl (Wayne) Beebe of Jamestown; Lynn (Clint) Howie of Indianapolis, IN; Karen (Mark) Bouckhuyt of Jamestown; Barbara (Jose) Cintron of St. Cloud, FL; a son, Charles Hoffman of Jamestown;12 grandchildren, Ericka Gowan, Johanna Winton, Michele Straight, Danine (Jon) Leeper, Trisa Mitchell, Erin Mitchell, Jules (Jennifer) Bouckhuyt, Jill (Stewart) Rickard, Troy (Jiliane) Bouckhuyt, Andres Cintron, Carly Cintron, Gabriel Cintron; 17 great grandchildren, Mason and Jackson Gowan, Jacob Beebe, Abbey Carnes, Emily Winton, Jenna and Caitlin Straight, Lauren and Jonathan Leeper, Michael and Blake Simmons, Jaelyn and Kaylie Bouckhuyt, Cody and Georgia Rickard, Kyler Wojtowicz, and Kendal Bouckhuyt; and a brother, Edward Jezioro of Angola, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" W. Hoffman whom she married April 23, 1949 and who died August 25, 1988; grandson-in-law, James E. Gowan, four brothers, Frank, Chester, Joseph, and Raymond Jezioro; and four sisters, Helen Kubiak, Sophia Woltz, Emelia Woods, and Genevieve Reyner.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, pastor of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church will officiate.
Entombment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
