Obituary of Michelle R. Benson

Michelle R. Benson, 57, of Ashville, died Monday July 16, 2012, in WCA Hospital. She was a 1973 graduate of Mayville Central School. She completed college course work at Edinboro University, University and Buffalo and graduated from State University of New York at Fredonia. She was employed by WCA Hospital for 33 years as a registered nurse and nurse manager of the Dialysis Unit. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and had served on its church council. She was also a member of the Southern Tier Kidney Association. She will be remembered as a kind and caring mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and nurse. She used her own life to touch the lives of others by whom she is and will always be remembered as such a sweet, hard-working and loving person. Surviving are her son Robert Benson of Ashville, her father Thomas Gooch of Lakewood, her mother Priscilla Erickson Wilson of Jamestown, 2 sisters Wendy (Scott) Chase of Randolph, Lisa (Loren) Hogan of New Hampshire and Brenda (Rick) VanderPol of Kissimmee, FL; a brother Thomas (Kathy) Gooch of Ashville; step mother Inge Gooch of Lakewood; four nieces, a nephew and great nephew. The service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Bethel Lutheran Church. Rev. Adam Miller-Stubbendick will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
