We enjoyed Joe's greetings, at Mass, every Saturday night and many times gave him a ride home after so he didn't have to walk. Our two sons also went to Holy Family and we remember seeing him at all the school functions. We were all saddened by the school's closing and no one could have been sadder than he was, one of the school's greatest supporters. Joe's smile was infectious and his kindness knew no bounds. Our family will miss you and is saddened by the loss to our community of such a kind, caring, and giving person. May you rest in peace. The Scotchmers

I am writing on behalf of the entire staff of the James Prendergast library. As employee's of the library we got to know Joe very well. He would volunteer as a greeter every Saturday, and we very much enjoyed his presence and his sincere welcoming. He was a truly genuine man, and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Joe! You spent your life giving to others, and may God spend eternity giving back to you everything you deserve! <3 You really are an angel.

I worked with Joe at Bigelow's for several years back in the 70's. He was the kindest and most hard working person I have met. God blessed everyone who had the privilege of meeting him and getting to know him, even for a little while. My thoughts are with his family, as for Joe, he is where he wants to be. His faith and love of God was unwavering.

I remember Joe being such a nice person when he worked with my father, "Howie" at Bigelow's for many years. When I returned to Jamestown after 23 years Joe recognized me and we stopped and chatted several times in the last 10 years. His exuberance for life and carefree attitude is a lesson we can all learn.

I've known Joe since we graduated from S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic School in the class of 1960. Joe has always been a sincere, gentle, quiet and sweet guy. I looked forward to seeing Joe at the 11:00 a.m. Mass at S.S. Peter & Paul Church on Sundays and missed him every week when he was laid up at home and unable to attend. When he returned, we were all so happy to see him back again. Joe was one of God's "angels on earth" and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a very special messenger of God and will be greatly missed by all of us whose lives he touched. He is now in God's perfect care, and he no longer will have to struggle. I feel truly blessed to have known Joe.
