Obituary of Ann M. Lager

Ann Marie Lager, 93, of Tanglewood Manor, formerly of 12 Brickel Place, Jamestown, New York, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013, with family by her side. She was fondly known to many as Aunty Ann. She was born in Idkerberget, Dalarna, Sweden on December 6, 1919, the daughter of Erik Gustav and Hilda Holmstrom Holmstrom. Ann came to Jamestown at the age of 6 with her mother in April, 1926, receiving her citizenship in 1940. She was preceded in death on April 3, 1991, by her husband of 49 years, Axel W. Lager, whom she married in Jamestown on October 3, 1942. Besides her husband and parents, Ann was preceded in death by a sister Alice Holmstrom Anderson in 1981, a brother Claus W. Holmstrom in 1952, and a niece Beatice A. Malmberg in 2006. She worked for Jamestown Telephone Corporation in Customer Service for 40 years. She was a lifelong member of the Chautauqua County Weavers Guild. Her hobbies included weaving, swimming, gardening, reading, and answering questions on Jeopardy. She is survived by her niece, ElsMarie Anderson of Jamestown; her great nieces Cynthia (Richard) McDonough of Jamestown, Jennifer(Matthew) Richardson of Kittanning, Pa. and children Megan and Ryan, Kimberly(Steve) Howe of St. Cloud, Florida and children Dylan and Connor; her great nephews Steve(Sherry) Malmberg of Lecanto, Florida, Tom(Cindy) Massey of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and children Addison and Emerson, Brian(Tina) Malmberg of Lecanto, Florida and children Luke, Burke and Gabriella. At Ann's request, there will be no visitation or service. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Tanglewood who made Aunty Ann feel she was at "home" for her last 2 years of life. We also extend a thank you to the local staff of Hospice Chautauqua County for their care during the past month. Flowers are gratefully declined.
