Obituary of Thomas J. Basile
Thomas J. Basile, 59, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Maryland as a result of a yearlong battle with Melanoma Cancer.
He was born February 19, 1954 in Jamestown, and was preceded in death by his parents Carmen and Rose Basile.
Tom is survived by his three children, Lindsey Madelina, Samantha Marian and John Carmelo, and his former wife and friend, Denese Margolius, all of Gaithersburg, MD.
He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1972, received his Bachelors Degree from The State University of New York at Geneseo, then went on to earn a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. He put his knowledge of business to good use by developing his own consulting business "Seneca Creek Consulting" which specialized in helping other small businesses break into the military and government markets.
Tom was a longtime and loyal member of the NRA and held very strong views about guns and his right to own them. He was a Master Marksman with both pistol and rifle. He received many awards and won several championships in the field of Skeet and Trap shooting. Tom enjoyed attending gun shows with his cousin, Russ, and collecting Winchester firearms. He looked forward to deer hunting every November on his cousin Russ's farm with his closest friends, Gary, Bob, Dick and Rick.
Tom was an avid horse racing fan. This was the first Preakness he missed in 28 years.
One of his true joys was driving his silver and red 1961 Corvette.
The family will receive friends in the Lind Funeral Home from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28th, to be followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Deacon Samuel Pellerito will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
