Obituary of Richard I. McCanna

Richard I. McCanna, 78, of Sunnyside Road Greenhurst, and Avon Park, FL, passed away Friday November 8, 2013 at WCA Hospital. Dick was born June 16, 1935 in Warren, PA the son of the late Sherwood and Joan Groves McCanna who lived in Youngsville, PA at the time. Dick spent his early years in Youngsville and went to elementary school there. He graduated from Jamestown High School in the class of '53. He then became a jack of all trades. He was a butcher, newspaper man, owner of Jamestown Window Cleaners, a truck salesman, and he loved being a tour guide at Chautauqua, and just about anything else you can think of. He is survived by his wife, Kay Davis McCanna with whom he celebrated their 25th anniversary June 25, 2013; three sons, Steven (Nancy) McCanna of Debary, FL; Daniel (Janet) McCanna of Dewittville; Thomas (Tricia) McCanna of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Sherry Schutter of Oxford, MA; a step son, Steven Reynolds of Geneva, NY; eight grandchildren, Tod and Alex Schutter; Steven and Eric McCanna; Joshua, Nicholas, Marissa, and Patti McCanna; two brothers, David McCanna of Sylvania, OH; and Lee McCanna of Warren, PA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles; and a sister in law, Hanna McCanna. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday November 12, 2013 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Marcus Briggs will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
