Obituary of Alan G. Moren

Alan G. Moren, 73, of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014. A lifelong resident of Jamestown, he was born November 10, 1940, a son of the late Carl O. and Nanny Marie Larsson Moren. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964, with two years of duty in Europe. In earlier years, Al was employed by Art Metal until its closing. He then worked for Niagara Mohawk until his retirement. Al served as trustee and vice chairman for the Village of Celoron and as the Republican chairman for the Town of Ellicott. Following retirement, Al enjoyed fixing things around the house, gardening, bowling, playing bocce, and helping family and friends with projects. Al thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Vikings Lodge and the VFW. Al was the family genealogist and had documented the Moren family tree dating back several generations. He is survived by two daughters: Chere (Scott) Collins of Rochester, NY and Diana (Phillip) Pantall of Lakewood, NY; a son, Scott (Donna) Moren of Erie, PA; a sister, Lillian Moren-Monger and a brother, Rodney (Maggie) Moren, both of Florida; seven grandchildren: Marisa Pantall, Madison Pantall, Colby Pantall, Lauren Collins, Audrey Collins, Gracie Moren, Carter Moren; and all of his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by two brothers, Rodger Moren and Carl Clarence Moren and a sister, Norma (Joseph) Martinez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski will be celebrant. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
