On behalf of all the FBG (Fontenet Brotherhood Group) members, we wish to share this piece in honor of our Brother Roger.
Author: Unknown
God's Garden: God looked around his garden, And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well upon this earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you, The day God called you home.
Thank you for your service to our Country, and may you rest in peace.

I am very sad to see that Roger has passed. He and my father were very good friends before my dad's passing in 1971. They were in the Guard together, worked at First National together and were active in a number of community groups together. Roger was a great guy and was much a friend to our family over the years. I have many fond memories of him. I am sure he and my dad are in heaven getting caught up....god bless you all. I will hold you in my prayers.

JoAnn, My deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm glad I was able to see you and Roger at the Bank Luncheons these past few times. It was nice talking about the good times we all had there. I have to admit when I first started working at the bank, I was a little afraid of Roger. He was so "Mr.Bank" and did everything by the book. But as I got to know him he turned out to be such a sweet, caring and wonderful person to be around. I'll always remember his smile that could light up a room, and his laugh. If there was a room full of people and you heard a laugh, you just knew it was Roger's. Rest In Peace Dear Friend

You will always be thought of as a man integrity and of humor, what a great combination. When your name comes up in conversation everyone who knew you immediately starts to smile. You are deeply loved and missed. Heaven will have fun with you there.

My dearest Aunt Joni, I am so sorry. I always enjoyed being with the two of you, and could always see the love you shared. Even his jokes that were always at your expense just showed his deep love for you. Listening to every conversation between Uncle Roger and Dad was always a story, and always filled with laughter. We will always miss him here but so thankful he is no longer suffering. I am sure it was a joyous meeting when Gram was there to welcome her boy to heaven. Nathalie, Danny and Matt, his greatest joys and sorrows were his children. He loved you so and wished things could have been different. And to all of his grandchildren, in Rochester or in France, nothing made those handsome eyes light up like just the mention of your names. You made him proud and full of laughter always. A great man, brother, and uncle that was loved and will be forever held in our hearts.

Joni, I've already expressed my thoughts in our emails this week, but I still want you and your family to know how much I pray for comfort, courage and peace for you all. If it were humanly possible, I would be with you to share your grief. Roger made a great impression on me from the first moment I met him and I can see how he made so many friends. You and the whole family will have great memories of a wonderful man. Love from your "blood sister".

Jean and I consider ourselves very fortunate to have had Roger as one of our dearest friends for over 60 yeas. Although there were years when we didn't see each other often, when we did, it was as though no time had elapsed and we picked up where we left off. We'd laugh, talk and reminisce as only possible with the dearest friends. You will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Daddy,
When I was a little girl, I was looking at your picture but did not know who you were. A few years ago, we have been able to get together and I have learned a bit mot who you were., I have loved the deep feeling of our exchanging wit, at the same time, with a lot of shyness...an then, I have been sure that we loved each other. I shall never forget you and you shall stay for ever, my Daddy.*Nath"

Roger was one of those special people who we come across in life. He was a good friend all though high school in Randolph, and an integral member of the Great Class of '58. We had many fun times with all the school activities. I well remember Roger in our school play. What fun those rehearsals were. It was so good to see him at our school reunions every five years.
