Obituary of Roger D. Hall
Roger D. Hall, 73, formerly of Jamestown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 with family members by his side in Rochester.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, JoAnn Pearson Hall; two sons, Matthew (Susan) Hall of Rochester and Danny Hall, residing in France; a daughter, Nathalie Gay, also residing in France; nine grandchildren: Sean, Shamus, Riley and Allie Hall of Rochester, Camille and Kevin Gay of France and Julie, Manon and Theo Hall of France; two brothers, Richard (Earlyn) Hall of Randolph and Douglas (Joyce) Gilbert of Irmo, SC; and a sister, Cheryl (Robert) Stull of Truckee, CA.
Roger was born July 15, 1940 in Jamestown. He graduated from Randolph Central School in 1958 and attended Fredonia State Teacher's College for two years. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1963 and an additional four years in the NYS Army National Guard. Upon his discharge from the military, Roger was employed by the former First National Bank of Jamestown as an officer trainee. He retired in 1989 as a Senior Vice-President from Chase Lincoln First Bank. Following retirement, he became involved in the Modular Home Industry in the Rochester area for many years.
Prior to his transfer to Rochester in 1981 while with the bank, Roger had been president of the Jamestown Chapter of the American Bankers Association, treasurer of the Falconer Chapter of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (JC's), treasurer of the Girls Club of Jamestown, member and president of the Southwestern Central School Board of Education, and a member of the Jamestown Kiwanis and Moose Clubs. He belonged to the Canandaigua American Legion Post and was a past member of the Jamestown AMVETS. Roger was a member of the Carroll Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Jamestown Consistory.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rodney Mileham, pastor of East Randolph United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where a Masonic Lodge Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m.
