Obituary of Randall R. Hofgren
Randall R. Hofgren, 42, of 29 Cutting Street, formerly of Ellington, died Saturday February 22, 2014, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh as the result of complications from H1N1.
Randy was born September 23, 1971, in Jamestown, the eldest son of Raymon and Kathleen Ostrander Hofgren.
He was a 1989 graduate of Falconer Central School.
He was employed as sexton at First Lutheran Church and other area Lutheran Churches. He earlier had worked for Falconer Central School District and Ken Asel RV. He was also a self employed musician playing with Sean Patrick McGraw, Underground Stampede, Sacred Fire and Synergy.
He enjoyed car restoration, gardening and picnicking with friends and family making terrific smoked BBQ ribs. He was extremely proud of his Irish/Scottish/Swedish heritage.
Besides his parents of Jamestown, surviving are his girlfriend Elaine Rissel with whom he made his home; his dog and step dog Jake and Katey; two brothers Jeffrey (Marci) Hofgren and children Drake, Dryden, Nicholas and Juli of Frewsburg and Eric (Lori) Hofgren and children Matthew, Owen and Spencer of Jamestown; maternal grandparents Murvel and Margaret Ostrander as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Alton and Marion Hofgren.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will not be observed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 N. Gale Street, Westfield, NY 14787 or a charity of choice.
