Obituary of Bernard Edson
Bernard "Barney" Edson, 85, of 124 Aldren Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident he was born June 17, 1928 in Jamestown, NY.
Barney was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from August 8, 1944 to March 5, 1946 during World War II.
Before his retirement years he had owned and operated Barney's Keystone Service Station on Forest Ave. for over 20 years. He also had an auto dealers license and enjoyed buying and selling cars.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was a dedicated volunteer at W.C.A. Hospital for 22 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially being around his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Carolyn J. Boswell whom he married March 20, 1948, two daughters, Barbara J. (Ken) Foust of Lower Burrell, PA, Susan (Bob) Marchiando of Twinsburg, OH, four grandchildren, Christy Marchiando, Anna Marchiando, Alyssa Marchiando all of Twinsburg, OH, Will Foust of Lower Burrell, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Carrie Sue Foust, a brother Duke Lord and two sisters, Hazel Crossley, Ethel Pattison.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth W. Foust, his son-in-law and pastor of the Grace Community Presbyterian Church, Lower Burrell, PA, and Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of the Lutheran Home will officiate. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
