Sheryl and Family, Our hearts and prayers are with you. May God wrap His loving arms of comfort and strength around you. Russ's smile and generous heart were shining examples to us all. He touched so many people with his giving spirit. "I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love." Leo Buscaglia
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you. ISAIAH 54:10

I can't remember when I first met Russ. I think it was as casual as; he was in the next booth at Burger King (back when he worked for Sysco). We had Panama School and Sacred Heart church in common. I think that Russ had a secret agenda . . . to smile to as many people as he could. His smile was infectious - you couldn't be on the receiving end of his smile and not smile back. I'm saddened that he is gone. I'm confident the world was a better place with his contagious smile and overwhelming optimism.

Making the office girls laugh will always be my best memory of Russ. Especially when he was trying to be so serious. He also made my upstairs bathroom at home come to life as-well-as the ceiling light in my dining room. Thanks for sharing him with us Sheryl. Our lives have become a little bit brighter because of him.

We all know in our hearts that we have lost a great man--and that he is irreplaceable. Right here in our midst was this person who exemplified day in and day out all those qualities we constantly strive for in ourselves, our children, our leaders--honor, decency, fairness, family, humor, modesty, generosity, hard work, integrity.
The highest compliment you can pay someone is that their life mattered--that it counted for something and who could this be truer of than Russ with that presence and that smile. There will never be another like him.

Russ was a great guy. He was one of those people one can point to and say, "He came to this world to make it a better place". And he did, with his loving personalty, with his unpretentious ways, with his easy smile. Just a great guy. Russ will always be with us.
