Obituary of Russell J. Waterman
Russell "Russ" J. Waterman, Jr., died March 13, 2014 at his home in Stow, New York surrounded by his family. Russ was born February 20, 1954 in Jamestown, New York to Russell J. Waterman, Sr. and Mariana (Lewis) Waterman. He graduated from Panama Central School in 1972 with the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Sheryl (Reed) Waterman.
Russ worked at the Salvation Army as a maintenance supervisor for the past five years. He worked at Sysco Foods for 20 years prior. His hobbies included running, playing guitar, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and lovingly maintaining his and his daughters' homes. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood where he served as Eucharistic Minister for 25 years, and he was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
His family wrote, "He was the hardest worker anyone ever knew and his greatest efforts were put toward taking care of his four girls."
He is survived by his wife Sheryl (Reed) Waterman, three daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal (Scott) Duda, Candace (Joshua) Brown, Tara (Sergio) Hernandez, six grandchildren Cade Russell Duda, Landon Everett Duda, Alex David Brown, Alyssa Louise Brown, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Brown, with one more on the way. He is also survived by 6 sisters and 2 brothers: Lois (Dennis) Kibler of Jamestown; Louise (Ralph) Long of Syracuse; Larry (Karen) Waterman of Sebastian, Florida; Joanne (Darrell) James of Ashville; Laura (Dwight) Smith of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; David (Toni) Waterman of Palm Bay, Florida; Loretta (Scott) Waterman Bremer of Jamestown; Elizabeth (Richard) Hall of Apopka, Florida.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jayne Lynn on May 11, 1961 and a brother, Ralph Waterman on October 15, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church 508 Cherry St Jamestown. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will be celebrant.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led by Rev. John Kuhlmann at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
