Dick and Emmi were very special and dear to my heart. I enjoyed talking with them and learning things and just listening to their stories. They will always be greatly missed.
A wonderful man and father.

I recall so many happy times with Dick & Emmi at joint events with the antique car club and the MBCA club. They were gracious, kind and always made us feel welcome. Condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.

I will have fond and lasting memories of all the wonderful times I shared with Dick and Emmi at the many cookouts, walks through the wooded trails, sitting down by the pond and zipping around in the golf cart. It was the best of times! I will miss you. And Dick, I really can hear the lily pads opening on a quiet day!

Dick was my "step uncle" and I met him when he got married to my aunt and "second mom" Emmi.
He was such a special person who always had a joke on his lips and loved pulling other people's legs. His sense of humour was so unique and he did not loose it till the last time we talked. The German part of the family will miss him and he will always be in our hearts.
We send all our sympathy to you, Marc, Valerie, Diane, Bud, Karen and Chris! Take care we are thinking of you Stefan, Svea, Ulla, Harm & Ann-Kathrin

As chair of the Secret Gardens Tour committee, it was my pleasure to know both Dick and Emmi when they put their gardens - yes, HIS and HER gardens! - on our 2003 tour. The gardens, the pond, the house were all so spectacular that when we found ourselves at another garden in the neighborhood in 2011, we asked them to join the tour again. Emmi had just gotten bad news from her oncologist, and she matter-of-factly said, "Call next spring and see if I'm alive." It broke my heart to know Dick had outlived two wives, but I did not worry about someone as tough as he was. Congratulations on a live well-lived, and sympathies for your loss from the entire committee. It was a privilege to know both Dick and Emmi, if only briefly.

Dick was a great car club buddy, we will all miss him a lot. He and I went to Hershey together a couple of times, on one occasion I bought a Mustang convertible. I drove it home while Dick followed in my van. As we stopped for lunch, he told me I had better check out where all that blue smoke was coming from when I got back. He was pulling my leg as he liked to do, but had me going for a minute. Rest in peace Dick.

Dick blessed our lives for many years as a member of the antique car club. His friendly manner and willingness to help on many occasions enriched our fondness for old cars and the people who drive them. A great man and good friend who is missed already. He and his wife Emmi are counted as wonderful down-to-earth caring and sincere people, second to none.

Richard was such a special person. I live down the hill on N. Main and always enjoyed coming by his interesting home. I too have sat and relaxed with Dick and Emmi and listened to nature. He sure served his purpose in life to the fullest.
My sympathy to his family.

During the 70's and 80's, when Richard was married to Susie and she was office woman, we had a great little 'family' at the Dow House; what fun we had on a daily basis; but, especially at our Building Christmas Party, thanks to our landlords, Mary and Jim Mecusker. When Richard turned 50, we all got together and got a belly dancer as a surprise to Richard; we all had a wonderful laugh on him. She was GREAT! He was surprised; I called him upstairs for a favor; he had to come back down and there she was, along with all the rest of us. For once, the jokester had one on him! Rest in peace, guy. You were a nice family member. To his family, I send my total sympathy. Stay strong; I know you will.
