Obituary of Carol Ann Kindberg
Carol Ann Lind Kindberg, 80, of 805 W. Third Street, formerly of 389 Hallock Street, died at 6:28 a.m. Thursday July 17, 2014 in her home after a courageous three year battle with cancer.
A lifelong Jamestown resident , she was born February 8, 1934, the youngest child of the late Bernhard and Dorothy Willets Lind.
Following graduation from Jamestown High School in 1951, she went on to receive degrees in nursing from WCA Hospital School of Nursing in 1954, Case Western Reserve in 1956 and Children's Hospital, Washington DC in1958.
Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was employed by WCA Hospital as an administrative nurse. Following retirement she worked at Marvin Community House as a server for nearly 20 years and as a Board of Elections inspector. She was also associated with her family's business, Lind Funeral Home, Inc, where she loving served as desairologist (a hairdresser of deceased persons) for over 50 years.
She was an active member of First Covenant Church for over 50 years. She served the church as choir member and president, 29 year member of Living Christmas Tree having been chairperson for many years as well as counting the church offering every Monday.
Her other memberships include WCA Alumni Association, Marvin Community House and former board member of WCA Hospital.
She will be remembered by many as a strong, hard working, Christ centered woman who was dedicated for many years to the causes and organizations she believed in. She was an inspiration to many and leaves behind a void that will never be filled, but a legacy that will live on forever in our hearts.
Surviving are three children Scott (Vicki) Kindberg and Gary Kindberg of Jamestown and Lisa (Tracy) Hernstrom of St. Cloud, FL; grandchildren Matthew, Katelyn, Joshua, Caleb "Cubbie" and Spencer Kindberg all of Jamestown and Elizabeth Hernstrom of St. Cloud; step grandchildren Eric and Jeremy Dahlgren of Jamestown and step great granddaughter Isis Dahlgren of Jamestown; a sister Andrea Hyde of TN and two brothers Robert (Virgina) Lind of Jamestown and Skip (Louanne) Lind of Chautauqua as well as many nieces and nephews who were all especially close to her.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gunnard "Kinky" Kindberg, who she married September 12, 1959 and who died February 9, 2006; two sisters Marguerite Lind in 1922 and Ruth Donelson in 2003 and a brother B. Rodney Lind in 2011.
The funeral will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday in First Covenant Church. Rev. Adam Rohler will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from noon-3 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.
