Obituary of Mary Anne Davis

Mary Anne Davis, 88, formerly of 3939 Bridle Path Bemus Pont, died Friday July 18, 2014 in WCA Hospital. She was born December 12, 1925 in Athol Springs, NY the daughter of the late John and Mary Adler Reiber. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Fredonia in 1947 and taught in US Army Schools in Germany during WWII. She then taught for two years in West Valley, and for over 30 years, taught mostly 6th grade in the Bemus Point School District, retiring in 1981. She was a member and past officer of the Bemus Point Library, the Library Study Club; past president of the Antique Study Club; past president of the Jamestown Stamp Club; past officer of the Jamestown Audubon Society; a member of the Antique Dealers; and she worked with her husband at stamp shows. Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Anne Anderson of Columbus, OH; Lucille Mary O'Dowd of RI; 19 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie W. "Les" Davis Jr., whom she married August 31, 1981 and who died May 13, 2012; and an infant sister, Catherine Reiber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 22, 2014, in St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point. The Rev. Todd Remick, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery Hamburg, NY. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led by the Rev. John L.
