Obituary of Shirley M. Tilburg

Shirley M. Tilburg, 77, of 27 Laurie Lane, Jamestown passed away at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, in Warren Manor, Warren, PA. An area resident for most of her life, she was born December 24, 1936 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Carl and Freeda Smith McIntyre. She was a 1954 graduate of the former Northern Area High School in Lander, PA and a 1957 graduate of the Jamestown School of Practical Nursing. Before her retirement she was employed as a licensed practical nurse for the former Jamestown General Hospital and had earlier worked at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY. She was a member of the Jamestown Church of Christ and was a member of the American Cancer Society. Surviving are a daughter, Laurie A. (Daniel) Morgante of Orlando, FL, two sons, Richard C. (Amy) Tilburg of Barre, MA, Mark A. (Valerie) Tilburg of Jamestown, six granddaughters, Brittany N. Morgante of Scranton, PA, Kellie M. Morgante of Cinn. OH, Cheri L. (David) Chandler of San Diego, CA, Stephanie M. Tilburg of San Diego, CA, Robin L. Tilburg of Barre, MA, Allison R. Tilburg of Jamestown, two great grandchildren, Roy Chandler and Molly Chandler both of San Diego and three brothers, Lyle McIntyre of Busti, NY, Glenn McIntyre of Sugar Grove, PA, Lewis McIntyre of Kiantone, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman T. Tilburg whom she married November 15, 1958 who died January 3, 1994 and three sisters, Allene Hamilton, Freeda Fosberg, Crystal Sweeney. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Jamestown Church of Christ. Pastor Richard McCurdy will officiate. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Southern Tier Kidney Association, P.O.
