Obituary of Bruce R. Glatz
Bruce Robert Glatz, 55, of 880 Hunt Road, Lakewood, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 in WCA Hospital.
He was born in Jamestown on August 12, 1959, a son of Harry and Gloria "Dodie" Glatz.
Bruce was a 1977 graduate of Jamestown High School where he was active in the music program, both in Band and the A Cappella Choir. He was also selected as a member of the National Honor Society.
Bruce then attended The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio as an economics major. His activities there included College Choir, announcer of the College Radio Station and leader of campus activities.
It was between his Junior and Senior year in 1980 that Bruce contracted a handicapping brain infection. For the remainder of his life, The Resource Center and their personnel have aided in his care. Bruce's entire family is thankful and deeply appreciative of the kindness and support shown!
In addition to his parents of Jamestown, surviving are a brother, Jay (Sue) Glatz of Lawrence, KS; a sister, Kim (Nick) Majetich of Sacramento, CA; two nephews, Grant Majetich of California and Gregory Glatz of Colorado; and three nieces, Katie Glatz of Missouri, Andrea (JC Stoner) Glatz of Texas and Kristen Majetich of California.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4th, 2014 in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert J. Hagel, pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Resource Center Foundation, 92 Fairmount Ave. or First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., both Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of one's choice.
