My mother, Dorothy Heck Watkins, had a brother, Alvin. I don't remember meeting him, but I may have. I spent a summer with my grandparents Jack and Bernadine back in the early sixties, in Elgin Nebraska.
I hung around following Jack and sleeping in a small room in the attic, I recall. I must have been about 8 years old. After a week or so, they sent me out to stay with grandma's relatives, the Selting's, at their farm outside of Elgin. I remember their huge pigs!
My mother, Dorothy, apparently Alvin's sister, died on Mother's Day when I was in 8th Grade at Saint John's catholic school in Loveland, Colorado.
I had no idea mother had any sibblings alive until recently. Or still possibly! I'll be 65 in a few weeks.
I'd like to send my belated condolences to all of Alvins family.
