Obituary of Lucille J. Oberg

Lucille J. Oberg, 65, of 17 Carey Place, died Saturday October 25, 2014, in her home. She was born January 2, 1949, in Olean, a daughter of the late Leslie and Edith Rawson Root. She was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School and later became a licensed beautician. She was employed as a hairdresser at several area beauty shops followed by working for Tanglewood Manor as a certified nurse's aide. She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church serving as an Awana leader. She was also a member of the Janecee's. She was well known for making wedding cakes. Many people might be thinking Lucy is in heaven now and there is no doubt she will get there eventually. However, her ability for getting lost might find her currently flying back and forth over a bridge somewhere. Surviving is her husband John A. Oberg, whom she married July 6, 1968; three children John L. Oberg of Jamestown, Heather (Brendan) Fagan of Newington, CT and Eric (Michelle) Oberg of Panama and two grandchildren Ryan Oberg of Panama and Isla Jane Fagan of Newington. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Todd Oberg October 26, 1974. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Hillcrest Baptist Church. Rev. Mark J. Hinman will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
