Ken and I taught at Elba for many years together. He was such a loving family man, always telling me about his girls. He could always make me laugh, which was probably 95% of the time. He was devoted to his students, regardless of the challenge they gave him. Rhonda, I can't put into words the sadness I feel in losing one of the best friends I ever had. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Sonne was such a nice man and teacher. The kids really miss him driving by every morning when he would beep & wave. He would also shake the students' hands and say 'hello' every day. Our deepest sympathy in the loss of such a special person. Sincerely, The Raines Family

Ken and I (Don) were together at Elba Central for 31 years. He was a loyal friend in and out of school. He was a person who always had a great common sense approach to problems. I never heard anything but positive comments about him by his students and staff members. He was very supportive of our athletic programs and showed an interest in the well being of all of our students. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We will miss Buddy, as many of his cousins called him. What a sense of humor he had. He certainly was devoted to his wife and daughters. As little boys we used to horse around on his large property near Ashville, New York. My sincere sympathies.

Rhonda, our prayers are with you at this time of loss. Ken was a great friend to me from the day I met him in second grade. After many years of good times and friendship, I was honored to have him serve as a groomsman at my wedding and later to attend yours. In more recent years it was a joy to connect with him to make plans to see him at our class reunions. He will be missed by many.

So many great memories of family get-togethers, dinners, holidays, weddings and just fun times of hanging out with Buddy! He is my cousin and the thought of him being gone doesn't seem real. You'd never meet a kinder, sweeter or funnier guy than Bud! He filled any occasion with fun and laughter and it breaks my heart that he's gone too soon. My prayers and love go out to Rhonda, the girls, and Ann Marie now and in the difficult days ahead.

Dear Family, Sorry that I lost touch with Buddy(that's how I knew him) over the years. We were best friends for a number of years on the Wellman Rd. He was my Best Man at my wedding. County fairs, playing baseball, football in the fields. Shooting hoops on the side of the garage. Paper basketball in the house. Driving his Mom nuts with "mmmmmmm fudge" until she made some. You have the deepest sympathies of Mary and I.

I was so sorry to hear about the unexpected passing of Ken. I worked with him at Elba Central School. As school counselor , I was responsible for scheduling students into his technology classes. Generally he got most of the challenging students. Ken did a tremendous job working with these students. I was always impressed with the great job he did with very limited resources. I always respected him for the great job he did with his program. He was a kind and caring person. May he rest in peace.

Dear Family, Wyoming school lost a very dear friend and a great teacher. He will be missed and we truly feel blessed to have him at our school. My kids would come home showing us proudly of what they made and chatting about his class. You could tell it was a fun class. He had a special way of working with the kids. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
