Obituary of Gertrude Spitale

Gertrude M. "Gert" Spitale, 92, formerly of Emeritus of Lakewood and Dearborn St., passed away at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 17, 1923 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Merchant Campesi. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and over the years was involved in the Red Cross, P.T.A. and the Jamestown High School Band Boosters. She was also very active with her late husband Joe in the Chautauqua County Democratic Party. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Cuoco of Jamestown, Laura Ann McGough of Buffalo, NY, two grandchildren, Heather Ann Smith, Jason (Aleena) Cuoco of Jamestown, two great grandchildren, Decker Smith, Gavin Cuoco, a brother, Sebastian Campesi of San Antonio, TX, two sisters, Ann Spitale, Josephine Grenier both of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph C. Spitale whom she married February 5, 1944 and who died February 27, 2000, a son, Joseph C. Spitale, Jr. who died January 3, 1970. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, in the Lind Funeral Home. Deacon Michael Lennon of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
