As a teenager growing up in Jamestown in the mid/late '50s, I was privileged to be a devoted participant in Appy's Christian-themed roller skating nights. As such, I knew Shirley as his beautiful/quiet/devoted wife. All these years later, I remain grateful for the beneficial influence of their lives on mine.
