Obituary of Shirley A. Vario

Shirley A. Olson Vario, 80, of 303 W. Fifth Street, Jamestown, formerly of 110 Midgley Street, Jamestown, died Saturday September 10, 2016, in Corry Manor. A native of Mt. Alton, PA, she was born September 17, 1935, the daughter of the late Melvin and Laura Tompkins Olson. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Chautauqua Opportunities for 20 years. She later worked for Chautauqua County Office for the Aging. She was a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to country music and traveling but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. Surviving are three children Robert (Tammy) Goodwill of Panama, Joseph Vario, Jr. of Falconer and Rhonda (Scott) Stelmack of Pelham, NH; eight grandchildren Robert and April Goodwill, James, Christopher and Amanda Decker, Kaileigh Stelmack, Jennifer Thompson and Randee Greco and several great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Vario, whom she married December 31, 1955 and who died June 29, 2004; a son Randy Vario, a daughter Lynn Swanson, a grandson Scott Stelmack and four brothers Richard Olson and Ernie, Merle and James Dutchess. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
