Obituary of Margaret E. Laskaris

Margaret E. Laskaris, 96, formerly of 11 Pennsylvania Avenue, died Sunday May 21, 2017, in the Lutheran Retirement Home. A Jamestown resident all of her life, she was born January 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Sven Thure and Anna Westberg Lund. She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School where she sang in the A Cappella Choir. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Alltel in customer service for the business department. She was baptized, confirmed and attended First Covenant (Mission Covenant) Church for many years and was a former member of Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hultquist Place and the Lutheran Retirement Home B2 for the wonderful care they provided to Margaret during her stay. Surviving are two daughters Suzanne (the late Terry) Eckwahl of Elma, NY and Joanne Sigular of Jamestown; three grandsons Mark (Michelle) Sigular of Lander, PA, Andrew (Pamela) Sigular of Jamestown and Stephen (Jennifer) Eckwahl of Orchard, Park; six great grandchildren Mary Beth, Leanne of Jamestown, Thomas of Orchard Park and Victoria, Julia and Haley of Lander. She was preceded in death by her husband Gust Laskaris who died December 10, 2003 and a brother Donald Lund. A private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
