Obituary of Michael Stanley Sobieralski
Michael Stanley Sobieralski, 51, of Murfreesboro, TN and Dublin, OH, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 17, 2017 of heart failure while setting up his tree stand in Franklin County, Ohio.
He was the husband of Cheryl Castle Sobieralski whom he married June 3, 1989 in Jamestown, NY. Together they had also resided in Columbus, IN for 12 years.
Michael was born October 21, 1965 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of MaryAnn Lynch Sobieralski and the late Edward Paul Sobieralski. Growing up in the Pittsburgh area, he attended Our Lady of Grace Church in Scott Township and graduated in 1984 from Seton-Lasalle High School in Mt. Lebanon, PA where he was an accomplished soccer player, a sport he played throughout college. He also enjoyed playing baseball and hockey.
He graduated from Edinboro University in 1988 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Computer Science. He then earned his MBA from St. Bonaventure University in 1993.
Michael was formerly employed by Bush Industries and Blackstone Ultrasonics in Jamestown before joining Valeo, Inc., where he worked for 19 years. While at Valeo, he held several different management positions including Site General Manager at plants in Greensburg, IN, Smyrna, TN, Alliston, ON, Canada and East Liberty, OH.
He was an avid outdoorsman whose interest and activities included fishing, hunting, skeet and trap shooting, and golf. A devoted husband and father to his wife and two daughters, he spent many weekends with them kayaking, hiking and riding his motorcycle. He always looked forward to attending the Indianapolis 500 with his father-in-law, Don Castle and was a former member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club in Lakewood.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by two daughters, Margaret Elizabeth of Chicago, IL and Emily Anne of Greenwood, IN.
Also surviving is his mother, MaryAnn, of Yorktown, VA; four sisters: Kitty (Dave) Staskelunas of Yorktown, VA, Linda (Mark) Strong of Summerville, SC, Colleen (Julian) Bailes of Lake Forest, IL and Karen (Richard) Nuttall of Columbia, SC; his father-in-law, Don Castle of Jamestown, NY; and several aunts and uncles, as well as nieces, nephews, great nephews and one great niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and his mother-in-law, Nancy Y. Castle.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 28th in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery following the service.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 2:45 p.m. Friday.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Jamestown Audubon Society, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
