Obituary of Joseph W. Casel

Joseph W. Casel, 71, of 1422 Forest Ave. Jamestown, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, following a brief illness.

A lifelong area resident, he was born September 1, 1946 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Joseph J. and Betty E. Kaufeld Casel.

Joe was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from December 14, 1967 to September 6, 1969 during the Vietnam War.

He was currently the owner and operator of Forest Ave. Self Storage and Casel Auto. Joe previously owned and operated J.W. Casel Auto Wrecking from 1975 to 2015.

Joe loved life and will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather who loved to collect antique toys. He was a true friend to many people and will be greatly missed.

Surviving is Susan K. Reynolds Casel with whom he has shared life with for the past 47 years along with five sons; Joseph J. (Kristen Nelson) Casel, Jeremiah J. (Miranda) Casel both of Jamestown, Joshua E. (Crystal) Casel of Frewsburg, NY, Justin M. Casel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jason W. (Stefanie) Casel of Edmonds, WA, eight grandchildren; Jacey Jo, Jaxton, Jagger, JuliAnna, Evelyn, Audrey, Scarlett and Alexa Casel, two brothers; James E. Casel, Jess R. Casel both of Jamestown, three sisters; JoAnn Casel of Buffalo, NY, Joette J. Casel of Jamestown, Joy H. Ellinor of Virginia Beach, VA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father who died February 23, 2015 and his mother who died April 11, 2010.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
