Obituary of Margaret W. Johnson

Margaret W. "Peggy" Johnson, 93, of Bemus Point, went to be with the Lord, Friday November 24, 2017. At the time of her death she had lived in the Lutheran Home. A native of Lexington, SC, she was born July 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Rev. William and Gabriella Ford Wallace. She graduated from high school in Lakeview, SC Class of 1941 and in 1945 received her certification as a registered nurse from McCloud School of Nursing, Florence, SC. While living in Chautauqua County over 60 years, she had been employed as a registered nurse by Westfield Memorial Hospital and Jamestown General Hospital. Peggy was a faithful, 50 year member of Bethel Baptist Church and remembered as a dedicated volunteer. Surviving are four children Cynthia (Randall) Rogers, C. Randall (Margie) Johnson, Blair (Valerie) Johnson and Earl (Ginger) Johnson; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Johnson, whom she married July 7, 1945 and who died July 21, 2008; a grandson Gabriel Johnson and three sisters and four brothers. Among Peggy's many gifts were hospitality and entertaining in her home. She enjoyed gardening and baking. Peggy leaves a legacy of Christian love and devotion to her Children and grandchildren. She was loved by all whose lives she touched. A memorial service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday July 14, 2018 in Bemus Point United Methodist Church.
