Dear Kathy, Nancy, Jeanne, Jane, As you know your Mom was an exceptional woman. She was a beacon of peace, gentleness and love. I visited her several times when I went home. A couple times accompanied by Doug and alone. During those visits I got to know her beyond my childhood vision of her. We talked about marriage and it’s challenges. She shared her views on various issues I raised. I appreciated her honesty and her perspective. At times she give me a look with a mixture of curiosity and surprise with her brows slightly raised. She’d say “oh Suzie”. I knew then I needed to re-examine my thinking. I have no doubt each of you has your heart and mind filled with these types of memories. Times of gentle interaction where you gleaned wisdom from your Mom and were surrounded with love. I hope these times and memories sustain you through this challenging time. I love each of you. AWWW I am so sad to hear Hazel passed on and will forever have wonderful memories of such a kind, warm, loving almost like a second Mom. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time, but we know she is in Heaven with the Lord and with Judd and Jim, and all the people she loved.So thankful you all were able to have her for such along time but yet know it is hard still to have her gone now, but she will be in your hearts and many people who knew and loved her forever. God bless you all.

My sweet Aunt. What a quiet, kind, loving woman and a wonderful Christ follower. My cousins and families have our deepest sympathies. Our two families were for my 75 years deeply intertwined. So close. So much shared. I've been close to this wonderful aunt since I was four. Her husband my first hero coming back from WWII. All the holidays together. So close we could love each other thru the best and the worst life delivers. She was stronger than appeared. She loved my wonderful cousins. While she made the world a better place, she made the worlds best apple pie, so many for me. Her home welcomed us when we appeared in Jamestown. I will miss her at our reunions. She has always been close to my heart and will remain so until we meet again. Heaven is all the richer today. Love you all. As you think of her let your sadness melt into joy.
