Obituary of Hazel I. Anderson

Hazel I. Anderson, 94, formerly of 221 Maplecrest Ave., Lakewood, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Brookdale Kenmore in Kenmore, NY. She was the widow of Gerald L. "Jud" Anderson, whom she married August 10, 1946 and who died May 27, 1992. Hazel was born January 27, 1924 in Clarion, Pa., one of thirteen children of the late William and Myrtle Barger Lineman. She was an active member of the First Church of God, having served as a Sunday school teacher, longtime member of the choir and belonging to the Ladies Missionary Society. Hazel was a very gentle and kind person. She made an impression on everyone everywhere she went. Surviving are four daughters: Kathleen (Ted) Sherrick of Bradford, Pa., Nancy Dyck of Sparks, NV, Jeanne (Dennis) Leonard of Denver, CO and Jane (Rich) Bergstrom of Grand Island, NY; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Helen (Nick) Verleni and Willa Short, both of Jamestown. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James L. Anderson; grandson, Alex Anderson; son-in-law, Brent Dyck; four brothers and six sisters. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, with the Rev. Myron M. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Children of Promise, 1215 E. 7th St., Anderson, IN 46012.
