Obituary of Victoria L. Carlson
Victoria "Vickie" Carlson, 72, of 514 Palmer St., Jamestown, passed away at home on Thursday, May 24, 2018.
An area resident for much of her life, she was born December 23, 1945 in Jamestown, daughter of the late Andrew and Frances Parnella Turkovich.
Vickie was a graduate of Jamestown High School and Jamestown Community College. After returning to Jamestown, she was employed by Chautauqua County Child Protection Services and spent most of her life caring for and helping others. She was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and its Bishop Overs Guild and following retirement, volunteered for many years at the St. Luke's Thrift Store. Prior to joining St. Luke's congregation, she was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she taught catechism classes.
Vickie will be remembered as a loving and caring fiancé, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. An avid quilter who loved spending time with her friends on quilting retreats, she was a longtime member of the Randolph Circle of Quilters, as well as the Saturday Stitchers in Fredonia. She loved to travel, especially with her fiancé, Paul, on the back of their Harley Davidson motorcycle in their younger years.
Surviving are her fiancé, Paul Garbart, whom she's known for 30 years; her three children, Deborah (Adam) Carlson, Eric (Lisa) Carlson, Heather Dahl; her 5 grandchildren, Randy Carlson, Kayli Carlson, Daymyon Bonnos, Devon Carlson, Noah Brennan, Cassidy Dahl; a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Savar; and many nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew "Bud" Turkovich.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Luke F. Fodor will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorials in her memory may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church Thrift Store, 401 N. Main St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
