Diane, Gale, Teri, George and family,
I'm sorry to hear of Arlene's death.
I had visited her with my mother and Derek in her home on Weeks Street in Jamestown. Derek went to the back yard to see the rhubarb plants Arlene had cultivated. These rhubarb plants came from my mother's garden in North East, PA. Before she sold the house, she gave the plants to Arlene.
Arlene also showed us where she and George had brewed their cranberry wine.
Does any one have the Jamestown article about George and Arlene teaching wine at the community college? I'd love to read it.
Prayers for all of you. We will all miss Arlene.
Your cousin, Norman Simmons

Can't think of "Mom" without having a smile on my face...even through the tears.
Just the few times that we were lucky enough to spend time with her will always mean so very much to us.
Arlene seemed to always see the bright side, she was funny and loved to laugh. She was knowledgeable about many things and willing to share but also she was interested in hearing what we had to offer as well.
A very special lady to many people everywhere.
Cape Cod is a better place for her having visited!
Personally, we like to think of ourselves as her Cape Cod kale soup connection...we are very appreciative of having the opportunity to share with her.
RIP Mom! S & H

To Arlene's Family,
My deepest sympathies to you all. It is so hard to loose a parent/ grandparent as we always want them to be there for us. She will be dearly missed. When she visited here in Florida she was a delight & had interesting conversations, always kind & gentle. I remember her most sharing an abundance of cookies that she & Amy baked together with great love. Amy and Teri both continue to share this memory & her love is still passed out in every baked good.
She will be with you in spirit always.
Love Aunt Wendy

Dear Family of Arlene (and Extended Family too),
Arlene was my mother's dearest friend, and a great friend she was too. I always looked forward to seeing her on my trips home. During my last visit, she invited us out to lunch on the lake. We had so much fun, chatting away and laughing, that we had to extend our time together a little bit. And I remember her wine making years. Once, I was invited down to the basement when I was younger (mid-teens?), and 35 years later I can still see her giving us a tour of those delightful ferments. She was all of the good things about the world wrapped up into one beautiful, caring soul. Family, love, friendship, laughter, food, wine, happiness, goodness and above all, fun. It's a great sadness to see her go, because we all need just a little more Arlene.
I know this is a very difficult time for everyone, but the outpouring of food and love I'm hearing about from a distance would make her so very, very happy.
All of my love and condolences to you, Erin H.
