Obituary of Carl C. Vullo, Jr.
Carl C. Vullo, Jr., 75, of 2124 Willard Street, Ext., died Tuesday June 4, 2019, in Select Specialty Hospital, Erie.
A Jamestown area resident all of his life, he was born Spetember 17, 1943, a son of the late Carl and Laura Lombardo Vullo, Sr.
He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1963 and later attended Murray State University.
He was employed by Phoenix Metal as a sales representative and earlier had been a longtime employee of Jamestown Metal Products. He also owned and operated the former Yum Yums Restaurant.
Carl was involved in various drum and bugle corps activities for over 60 years. As a musician, instructor, supporter or benefactor, he absolutely loved the marching arts. He worked with several local marching bands and winterguards including Jamestown and Falconer Schools and always enjoyed crossing paths with former students and their families. He was the organizer of Bugler's Holiday, a local drum and bugle corps show, for many years.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother uncle and friend. Whether you knew him as Carl, Nanu, Uncle Mel, Papa or Yumbo he will be remembered as a generous man who quietly lived his life serving others, especially kids.
Surviving are his wife Graceen Cusimano Vullo, whom he married May 4, 1968; two children Carl (Darlene) Vullo III Bloomfield, NY and Kerry (James) Mitchener of Falconer; five grandchildren Emma, Mary and Daniel Vullo and James and Graceen Mitchener; a sister Ida (James) Escott of Lakewood and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Clement Vullo, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant.
Directly after mass, burial will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life in St. John Catholic Church Hall.
Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Jamestown Band and Chorus Association, PO Box 3431, Jamesotwn, NY 14702 or your local music program.
