Obituary of Angelo Soldano

Angelo Soldano Sr., 89, of Ashville, NY, passed away Thursday February 20, 2020 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 7, 1930 in Jamestown the son of the late Alberto and Mary Dalba Soldano. On January 18, 1951, Angelo enlisted in the US Army, serving in Japan and Korea. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged January 17, 1954. For over 40 years, he was a member of Local 600 Construction Workers Union, and following retirement, was the greeter at Sam's Club in West Ellicott. He enjoyed watching cowboy movies and was an avid gardener. Surviving are four children: Darlene M. Soldano, Cheryl A. (Alfred) Gullotti, Angelo (Lisa) Soldano Jr., and Craig S. Soldano; six grandchildren: Ashley Haglund, Kevin Haglund, Chad (Jenna) Gullotti, Melissa (Shane) Johnson, Steven A. Soldano, and Spenser A. Soldano; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marian Santamaria Soldano whom he married November 7, 1953 and who died March 8, 2017; and eight brothers and sisters. Angelo's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Marie and Allen for being there during this time. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Deacon Samuel Pellerito of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
