Obituary of Jacqueline G. Meier

Jacqueline G. Meier, 92, formerly of Lakewood, NY, passed away early Saturday morning, March 14, 2020 at the Lutheran Retirement Home. She had resided at Hultquist Place since 2016. She was the widow of the late Frank R. Meier whom she married February 8, 1943 and who died September 5, 1977. Jackie was born June 28, 1927 in East Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late Carl and Grace Stearns Corbin. She graduated from East Rochester High School in 1945 and attended R.I.T. Together with her late husband, they owned and operated Jamestown Industrial Supply, Inc./Frank Meier Associates. She worked at Jamestown General Hospital in the pharmacy until it closed permanently. She was then employed by Chautauqua Hardware and following retirement enjoyed many years as a Foster grandparent at Love School in Jamestown. Jackie was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and sung in the church choir. In earlier years she was active in Girl Scouts as a troop leader and Alumni member and had also been a Cub Scout den mother. Surviving are four children: Kathy Brown of Lakewood, Frank L. Meier of Clymer, Susan (Al Laska) Moon of Lakewood and Joni (Joseph) Carone of Venice, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Melissa (Aaron Restivo) Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Jacob Meier, Joshua (Samantha Fortune) Meier, Megan (Nathan) Glaser and Nicholas (Kelly) Carone; five great-grandchildren: Dylan, Gavin and Grace Davis, and Nora and Evan Anderson; as well as Jackie's longtime friend and 'adopted daughter', Peg Jungquist of Lakewood. In addition to her husband, Frank, Jackie was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Corbin; a sister in law, Lois Corbin; and her son-in-law, Timothy C. Brown who died February 2, 2020. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Lakewood. The Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the church.
