Obituary of Paul B. Johnson
Paul B. Johnson, of Wellman Road, Ashville, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 with his loving wife and one of his favorite cats by his side.
He was born in Jamestown on Dec. 27, 1939, a son of the late Kenneth and Helen Johnson.
Paul was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a member of Kidder United Methodist Church.
Before retirement, he was a truck driver for with Teamster's Local #264 for many years.
He was a loyal member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of the Vikings, and the former Jamestown Moose Club.
A quiet, kind, and loving man, Paul also expressed his adventurous nature in his passion for roller skating, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and racing motorcycles in earlier years. Truly the Captain of his own ship, he loved spending time with family and friends on Chautauqua Lake in his beloved boat "The Seagull." He was a skilled handyman, and enjoyed woodworking and maintaining Flo's barn full of miniature horses, goats, and geese. He rescued many stray cats over the years. Paul also made the best chocolate chip cookies ever!
Paul is survived by his best friend and wife, Florence I. Olson Johnson, whom he married July 11, 1981 on the Chautauqua Belle; four children: Martin (and wife ) Johnson, Beth (Forest) LaCount, Kenny (Marsha) Johnson, Michelle (Ron) Yomans; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four step children: Cheryl (Russ) Stamp, J. Randall Nelson, Julie Nelson, Scott (Gianna) Nelson; 10 step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; a brother Richard (Dick) Johnson; and several special nieces and nephews. Paul leaves to cherish his memory, two of the "Three Musketeers"- his good buddies Armondo and Bobber, and Terry, Brian, and Jim as well as others.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Howard Johnson; a sister Nancy Galbraith; brother in law Jim Galbraith; sister in law Annie Johnson; and niece Lynn Johnson.
Due to the restrictions on public gatherings caused by Covid-19, a private graveside service will be held in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
