Obituary of Frank L. Messina

Frank L. Messina, 93, of 65 Kenmore Avenue, Jamestown, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born August 24, 1927, a son of the late Samuel and Sarah Cusimano Messina. He attended Jamestown Public Schools and was a WWII veteran of the US Navy serving from November 16, 1945 to July 28, 1946. For 25 years he was the carpet installer for the former Bigelow's Department Store. He then went on to become a self-employed carpenter. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Surviving are four children Marcy (Augustine) Santa Maria of Buffalo, Susan Messina of Jamestown, Mark (Ginny) Messina of Parma Heights, OH and Frank "Larry" (Mary) Messina, Jr. of Lakeview, NY; seven grandchildren, Andrew (Lauren) Kwiatkowski, Laura Lee Kwiatkowski and Kevin (Kelly) Kwiatkowski all of Buffalo, Tracey Messina of Virginia, and Taylor (Adam) Messina, Taryn (Jeffrey) Messina and Alexis (Drew) Rankin all of Ohio, two step-grandchildren, Anne Yeskoot of Buffalo, Augustine (April) Santa Maria of FL, five great grandchildren, Harper, Evelyn and Niko Kwiatkowski, Cameron Rankin, Parker Paler and three step-great grandchildren, Grace and Joan Yeskoot and Emily Rankin. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Beau Jean Messina, whom he married June 24, 1950 and who died July 14, 2000; four brothers Salvatore, John, Joseph and James Messina and three sisters Mary Aiello, Jacqueline Conti and Elizabeth Falthzik. A private Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family in St. James Catholic Church.
