Greetings and sorry to hear the news.
I met John in the early 80's when he became a Salesperson with D&F Real Estate where I worked at the time.We became instant friends especially with our common interest in Deer Hunting. John told great stories detailing his hunting experiences and enjoyed hearing mine. I helped them purchase their home after John gave up Real Estate which I've continued to date.
So naturally we began hunting together on my land on Pancake Hill Rd near Bemus Point. He especially loved Bow Hunting with the more pleasant weather, AND had success when I was able to share the hunt with him. I've attached 3 photos I found of bucks he got while we hunted together.
As the years went by he was less able to spend much time hunting and gave me some of his gear and treestands, BUT we always spoke about the luck our group was having and he'd come to the house to hear the stories and admire our deer.
So, its been a tradition to get in touch and let him know how things went--he stopped by the house this summer to chat and we planned to get together to show him our new Cabin in Panama.
As the season just ended I was going to call when I saw the news. I'm certainly missing our conversations and will always think of him.

I only met John and Sandra one time, but it was very memorable to me. I moved away from Jamestown in the '80s but have come back a few times over the years. On one visit about 5 years ago, I drove over to my childhood home. It was summer and the front door was open, so I walked up and knocked. John answered and i told him that the house was the house that I grew up in, and he immediately opened the door and invited me in! A total stranger that he had never met before! We walked through the house and I told him and Sandra stories about how my Dad had added on to the house and they seemed really fascinated by it. I mentioned that my bedroom had been down the hall at the other end of the house and John said, " well, you need to see it then!". He opened it up and it was his music room. There were guitars everywhere and Browns pictures and banners all over the wall. He had no way of knowing that I was also a guitar player and that I had grown up a Browns fan. If I had dreamed of coming back to my childhood bedroom as an adult and setting it up exactly the way I wanted it, I couldn't have done it any better than John, and I told him that. He seemed pretty happy to hear it. It was a great visit and very meaningful to me that he would allow me, someone he didn't even know, to come into his house and take a walk down memory lane. I'll never forget it.

John was a very nice man. Browns Nation is in mourning. John took good care of his wife and was a great fan of Indians and Browns. I remember much fun and heartache following the Browns with him at many local bars. I'm sure John and his wife are now together again. John will be looking up Otto Graham and Bobby Mitchell in heaven. God Bless the family during these times.
