Kevin was my best friend from Jr. High on. My family kind of adopted him and so we did everything together. Well, until disco that kind of led us down separate paths, but other than that we were nearly inseparable. He even helped my family move to Texas. He stayed with us in Dallas where he and I worked as carpenters with my brother. Eventually he was joined by his brother and their wives. We all attended the 1979 Texxas Jam! and melted to the hundred and five degree heat. Those were the days, we were 18 and 19.
Eventually he went back to J-town to follow his path and I was in Dallas on mine. Recently I retired and spoke with Kevin about getting a plot of land in or around J-town where I could build a place to spend my summers and he told me he was happy to help. "Im a carpenter" he said. "I know and I'll put those skills to use" I replied. That conversation was 5 days before he passed. Im glad I got to visit with him, but damnit this really hurts.
All love and sympathy for the Humphreys family and everybody who knew him, he was one of a kind and I'll miss him.
