“If you don’t show your work, I’ll drop the pen and bleed” - Larry Green was simply the best math teacher I ever had. I learned to show my work in a systematic organized way.
Rest In Peace Mr. Green

I was in Mr Green's Geometry class. He was intimidating for a new sophomore. He would role the dice to see what row, and what student would be chosen to put the homework on the board. I rarely did homework for most classes, but I always had my Geometry done. I did not want Mr Green to turn his advanced sense of humor on me in front of everyone. He also came up with nicknames for students, and we still call one friend by the name Larry gave him. I wish I'd have seen him over the years to show my appreciation. Best wishes and condolences to his family. Barry Minsker

Mr. Green was one of the BEST teachers I ever had - tough but certainly caring… so funny too!! He took interest in his students especially if they were involved in basketball!! I was fortunate!! He even came down and watched me play in a Gus Macker over-30 division offering his advice!! I will ALWAYS remember that!! What a great guy! Heaven gained a great one!! RIP Mr. Green!

I was also a student of his at JHS. I was lost as soon as we opened the book but, some how he got me through the course successfully. I remember him at my niece's wedding when we all sang Sweet Caroline. He was one of a kind indeed. Rest in peace Mr. Green.

Like so many others that struggled through Mr. Green’s math classes, I was a former student from 1981-1984. We all thought that we were there to learn calculus…which we were. But Larry had much broader goals for us. He wanted us to become better people. Granted, it was a struggle…for all of us. But he persisted.
He insisted that we always try. Maybe we would figure out the answer, maybe we wouldn’t. But that wasn’t the point. He knew that success would come…if only you put in the effort. And he supported this effort by giving his time for extra tutoring. There was no need to worry about “office hours” because he would be there for you 100% of the time…just to make sure we were all “cookin’ on the front burner.”
He gave us exposure to the concept of “community.” He encouraged all of us to do something for others. For instance, giving blood at the Red Cross. To this day, I know several people who have adopted this philosophy of being part of a community, and both the individuals and the community are better for it (thanks again Larry!).
His interest in our growth and well-being continued as we entered the next phase of our post-high school lives. For several years, we held annual “C. Larry” parties. These were always well attended events (usually at Dino’s!!) that were part high school reunion and part “thank you”. Sometimes it took years to figure out, but generally everyone realized how Larry’s efforts helped us grow. And having wings/beer with him was just fun.
Many of the attributes that helped me grow as a person can be traced back to the lessons taught by Larry. We all have a favorite teacher or two that we connected with. And I would be thrilled to know that I could connect with the next generation and provide a positive impact on even a single life. So, perhaps it is an apt tribute that Larry was able to have a positive impact on not just a single life (mine), but so many lives of students that passed through his classroom. This is a sad time for family and friends alike. But I will cherish the memories and lessons learned from my friend “C. Larry”.

Mr. Green (C. Larry, as many of us also knew him by) was the best teacher I ever had...High School or University. He didn't just teach us Calculus...he taught us how to think. He had a great sense of humor...and was one of the smartest people I have ever known. I have fond memories of him even to this day. Whatever success any of us who were students of his have achieved or will achieve, he was and is a large part of it. May God rest his soul and help his family through this difficult time.
