Obituary of Carl Larry Green

C. Larry "Gus" Green, 81, of 1737 Martin Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday June 23, 2021, in Buffalo General Hospital. A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born May 17, 1940, a son of the late James and Esther Gustafson Green. He was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School, a 1960 graduate of Jamestown Community College, and a 1962 graduate of SUNY-Albany, playing basketball at each school. He later earned a master's degree in Mathematics at the University of Illinois. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed by Jamestown Public School System as a math and computer teacher at Jamestown High School, starting in 1962. He had been a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Vikings and War Vets Recreation. An avid golfer, he enjoyed several area courses including Timbercreek and Jackson Valley. Surviving are two daughters Kirsten Green of Watertown, MA, and Caroline (Erik Dorsch) Green of Chapel Hill, NC; his partner of 19 years, Linda Moynihan, with whom he made his home; Linda's children Robin (Matt) Miller of Milwaukee, WI, and Matthew (Jessica) Freed of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Austin and Virginia Freed; a brother James (Bonnie) Green of Lakewood and several wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Christine "Tina" Carlson Green, and a sister and brother-in-law Carol and Donald Brewer. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. A private celebration of life for the family will be held at their convenience. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
