Obituary of David R. Carlson
David R. Carlson, 73, of Arlington, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA.
He was born November 4, 1947, in Jamestown, NY and was predeceased by his parents Axel R. and Margaret L. Carlson.
David was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University in 1969.
Professionally, David held over 20 years of service in the insurance business, serving as vice president with Johnson & Higgins (1973-1986) and vice president with Marsh & McLennan (1986-1992). Recently, he served as a financial securities broker for over 29 years.
David was an enthusiastic drum corps afficionado and enjoyed reading, horseracing, and the game of golf. He was an avid fan of The Washington Football Team, the Washington Nationals, and the Washington Capitals. He also served as President of the Arlington Kiwanis Club from 2001-2002 and was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. But most importantly, he was a dedicated family man.
Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Carlson of Arlington, VA; two daughters, Megan and Rachel Carlson, both of New York City; a sister, Elaine Connelly and her husband, James, of Orchard Park, NY; niece Betsy Bargmann and her husband, Karl, and sons Owen and Evan.
The funeral was held Friday, July 16, 2021, in the Lind Funeral Home officiated by The Rev. Robert Allport-Cohoon of Bethel Lutheran Church which is archived at www.facebook.com/lindfuneralhomeinc. Burial was in the Lake View Cemetery.
