Obituary of Susan A. Rieger

Susan A. Rieger, 77, of Lakewood, NY, passed away at 11:00 pm Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, NY. She was born August 28, 1944, in Erie, PA, a daughter of the late Ronald W. and Marie Sculley Rieger. Susan was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Villa Maria College in Erie, PA, and her master's degree from Indiana University. Before her retirement she was a business teacher for the Frewsburg Central School System for over 30 years. Over the years she taught typing, shorthand, bookkeeping and eventually computer skills. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood, NY, and a member of the New York State Teachers Association and the Retired Teachers Association. She also enjoyed spending time boating on Chautauqua Lake, traveling, and playing bridge. Surviving is her sister, Mary Ellen Crane of Fort Mill, SC, several nieces, and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Carol Rieger and Marty Rieger both of Erie, PA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald W. Rieger, Jr and James A. Rieger. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor will be celebrant.
