Paul wrote in Philippians that Christians must forget all they have done; forget every past achievement and remember what still must be done; remembering the goal that lies ahead. To the end of the day, life is the life of an athlete pressing onward, never relaxing or lowering our standards – pressing on.
Martha Erickson Young was not one to hang on to past achievements; they were only human achievements done not for self-glorification but for serving her clients, wonderful family, her community, and a part of enjoying life to the fullest. She used her gifts and talents to keep striving for that which was ahead. She now has found her rest and reward as we say in her honor – well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Martha was a guiding light, as nice a person as one could meet. I'm certain that she was a wonderful wife to Dave, who will miss her dearly. Admirably, Martha sought to help individuals and society by serving as a probation officer as her career and supporting Camp Onyahsa, and she worked and played to keep herself and Dave healthy and happy by sharing with him a variety of exercise and hobbies. Our world has lost a wonderful human being.

I worked with Martha when we were both Probation Officers in Jamestown. She was the most conscientious person I ever knew. Indeed, her pre-sentence reports made it very easy to know all I needed to know when working with the clients.
. I also took an aerobics class from her. She was very involved with the YMCA and in excellent shape. It was such a shock to learn she had passed. I went on to a different career as a special education teacher but was fortunate to meet up with Martha for lunch a few years back. We retired the same year. I was very happy to learn she was appointed supervisor, since she was so deserving of the promotion. Most of all, I remember Martha always with a smile on her face and being such a positive and vibrant person. I cannot believe she is gone. My condolences go out to David and the rest of her family.

I'm so sorry to hear about Martha. She was such a beautiful person. And even though I haven't seen her since high school, I remember her smile and laugh like it was yesterday. RIP Martha

Words cannot describe what a wonderful person you always were, always smiling , laughing and such a positive attitude. You were the best supervisor to work with and I always learned something new from you. Rest In Peace and may your family find peace in their loving memories.

I shall forever miss Martha's warm smile and heartfelt hugs. She was the kindest sweetest person and I never could quite reconcile that she was a probation officer. I will remember our annual family visits at Letchworth and cherish this last one on August 7th. Gone too soon but will never be forgotten. I love you Martha. Thank you for being a part of my life.
