Obituary of Sylvia M. Oste

Sylvia M. Oste, 90, of 124 Aldren Ave., formerly of 21 Willow Ave., passed away early Tuesday morning, April 5, 2022 at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center. Known as "Toady" to family and close friends, Sylvia was born in Jamestown on September 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Bergman Erickson and was a 1949 graduate of Jamestown High School. Toady was employed by Prudential Insurance as an underwriter in Jamestown. A life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and involved in many ways throughout the years, she also belonged to the Mt. Sinai-Mecca Chapter #132 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving is her husband, George A. Oste whom she married October 1, 1955; her son, Matthew G. (Stacie) Oste of Concord, NC; a brother, James A. (Dodie) Erickson of Jamestown; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, Toady was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Sturm; brother, Andrew B. Erickson; and nephew, Kevin Erickson. Friends and family will be received at a reception to honor Sylvia beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 24th at the Jamestown Masonic Temple, 3485 Baker Street Extension in Jamestown. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505-5097; or to a charity of one's choice.
