Obituary of Eva R. Pickett
Eva R. Pickett, 95, of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
An area resident for most of her life, she was born September 17, 1926, in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn Taylor Field.
Before her retirement, she was employed as a secretary at the former WCA Hospital. In earlier years had worked for the former Blackstone Corporation.
She was currently attending the Hillcrest Baptist Church and had previously been a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church. As an active volunteer she loved volunteering for the American Red Cross at Washington Middle School, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and later for WCA Hospital.
Surviving are two sons: Timothy Pickett of Jamestown, David (Jacque) Pickett of Auburndale, FL, three grandchildren: Amanda (Adam) Oxenreider of Ellicott City, MD, John (Dawn) Pickett of Jamestown, NY, Susan (Michael) Coville of Kissimmee, FL, and nine great grandchildren: Samantha Coville-Otkins of Zephyrhills, FL, Abigail Coville of Kissimmee, FL, McKenzie, Zachary, Emmory and Wesley Pickett of Jamestown, Aden, Avry, and Ari Oxenreider of Ellicott City, MD.
Bedsides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Jack" Pickett whom she married August 15, 1948, and who died July 22, 1990, four brothers, Arthur, Carl, Paul, and Lynn Field, three sisters, Mary Lampman, Evelyn Halstead, Dorothy Johnson, and her daughter -in-law, Paula A. Pickett.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Hinman, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10-11 am, one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 40 Hallock St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
