Obituary of Ruth E. Anderson

Ruth E. Anderson, age 105, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:58 pm Wednesday November 23, 2022, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident, she was born April 10, 1917, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Fritz and Anna Nelson Melquist. Ruth was a longtime member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and was also a member of the U.S. Postal Service Letter Carriers Auxiliary. Surviving is a son, David M. (Cris) Anderson of Columbia City, IN, three grandsons, Gregory (Moinque) Anderson, Christopher (Erin) Hagstrom and Matthew (Laura) Hagstrom, six great grandchildren, Ava, Bodee, June, Cooper, Edie, and Liv Hagstrom. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Theodore W. "Ted" Anderson whom she married April 17, 1942, and who died July 26, 2013, five brothers, Floyd, Gerald, Milton, Glenn and Robert Melquist and three sisters, Dorothy Strong, Florence Kling and Mildred Conte. A private family service was held in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Laura Csellak, chaplain of Lutheran officiated. Burial was in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
