Obituary of Jonathan Alan Meckley

Jonathan Meckley of Bemus Point, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on April 1, 2023 due to complications following a skiing accident. He celebrated his 63rd birthday the day before his passing. He is survived by his wife, Kim McGraw Meckley; a daughter, Mary Meckley along with her fiancé Nicholas Cecchetti, both of Pittsburgh; a stepson Alex Carroll, of Bemus Point; his parents, Barry and Shelva Meckley, of Abbottstown, PA; his sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Donato, of East Berlin, PA. His nieces and nephews were dear to him and included: Bria, Reno, Gabby, Todd, and Mark. Although he was taken far too soon, he led a full life. He was in the Coast Guard for four years followed by the Reserves. He taught Plastics Engineering Technology for many years at Penn State Behrend and served as department chair before retiring in 2022. His passions included scuba diving, photography, motor sports, skiing, and exploring the world. He and Kim shared many wonderful adventures, traveling to more than 40 countries. He reached his goal of visiting all seven continents when he went to Antarctica in January of this year. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Gifts in celebration of Jon's life are welcome by Penn State Behrend. Jon will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him. Not a minute, not an hour, Not a day will go by We won't think of you, Jon And smile or sigh. You enriched our lives While you were here. Now we must learn to live Without you so near. Time may soften the blow, But your memory won't fade. Not a day will go by We won't wish you could have stayed. Poem by Kelly Roper
