Obituary of Josephine Marcello

Josephine Miraglia Marcello, 97, died Saturday June 10, 2023, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. Born March 14, 1926, in Jamestown, she was the daughter of Joseph and Consolata Fiorentino Miraglia. Josephine had to leave high school to support her mother, grandmother, and siblings. She had worked at National Worsted Mills, Halls Worsted, Woolworth’s, Landy’s Cleaners, Malleable Iron, and Sylvania. She also worked at the Board of Elections and assisted at Washington Middle School as a teacher’s aide and “Gramma” to students at Ss Peter and Paul Parochial School and Washington Middle School. She was an outgoing person who couldn’t do enough to help others. She was a communicant of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church where she was president of the Altar and Rosary Society, baked for and volunteered at the St. Joseph’s spaghetti dinners, fish fries and Italian Festivals. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters Diane (Carl) Marcello Williams and Joan Marcello; granddaughter Stephanie (Tylor) Cardone; granddaughter-in-law Holly Williams; great grandsons Andrew and Nathan Williams and Ronan and Callum Cardone. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Marcello, whom she married February 1, 1947, and who died October 24, 2003; grandmother Anna Fiorentino; grandson Jason Williams; brother Joseph Miraglia; a sister Anne Miraglia Amato and a nephew John Miraglia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday in St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
